It is not always the easiest way, cycling the UK. Even though the hills are by far not the highest of Europe, quite often the roads go steep up and down. Usually, warnings are posted only when the inclination is more than 15 %. And there are lots and lots of roads going up that steep. Just for comparison, the Col de la Madeleine in the Pyrenees nowhere rises by more than 7%.

So, why cycling in the UK?

Because it is so beautiful.

The variation of landscapes is impressive. Towns and villages look really friendly and beautiful. There is a network of (very) small roads which are almost free of cars, hence cycle-friendly. The weather is usually quite good; not too cold, seldom too warm, and very few long periods of rain. And they speak English.
